For this week’s Daily Create, I chose to take a picture of my car from an unusual perspective. I took the photo from ground level beside the front tire. We normally see cars from standing height, so changing the camera angle made the vehicle look much larger and more dramatic. I also noticed the wet pavement from the rain added some reflections which I found made the image more interesting. After taking this photo I also never realized how dirty my car tires were!
This challenge showed me how much perspective can influence the way an image is perceived. Just by moving the camera to an unusual position made the photograph of my car feel much more dramatic. After this exercise I learned that photography is not just about what we photograph, but how.
Because the Volkswagen logo is so prominent in the photo, I almost felt like I was creating an advertisement for the car. It made me realize how often companies use dramatic camera angles to make their products appear more impressive, powerful, or visually appealing.

For my other daily creation, I chose to try monster art. When looking around my surroundings the first thing that immediately popped out at me was my GoPro. The camera lens looked exactly like an eye that was watching me. From there I was able to imagine it as a monster! I added devil wings, horns, a tail, and some sharp teeth. Once I started drawing on the image, it became surprisingly easy to see the camera as a little monster rather than a piece of technology.
This challenge really brought out my creative side. A simple object can become something completely different just by changing how we look at it. It also made me think about storytelling, as a simple image was able to spark an entirely new character and idea.
